During the 1692 Salem Witch Trials, this land was owned by Israel Porter, who was essentially the leader of the faction resistant to the Putnam family. He eventually defended Rebecca Nurse in court & stood strongly against the trials. I wonder what he thought by the banks of the river & if he could see it from that spot once upon a time? What stood there? Anything at all? How overwhelmed must he have been once upon a time? I wonder if it would be seen as insanity today if he wept himself to sleepless nights. So curious it all is, but if you look at the wider picture…witch hunts literally and metaphorically continue to this day. The world is a witch hunt & we are the massively multiplayer real life game hysteria. When history is forgotten, history repeats. Cycles must be broken for a better tomorrow.
